Practical Protection Podcast: The Year Ahead

“Many medical practices are already completing medical reports electronically, but seeing an increase in digitized procedures could speed up the process and make things safer”

For the Season 5 premiere, I’m joined by Peter Hamilton and co-host Roy McLoughlin. Peter has worked in the insurance industry for approximately 40 years and has held a number of positions aimed at improving access to insurance and the reputation of the insurance industry as a whole.

The need for collaboration is more than ever. Real positive change can be brought about within the industry if different parties work together with the same end goal. Much more needs to be done to improve things like access to insurance.

This year, the focus is on electronic GPRs. The NHS has been strained during Covid, which means it can sometimes take a while for medical reports to come back. Many medical practices are already completing medical reports electronically, but seeing an increase in digitized procedures could speed up the process and make things safer from a data protection perspective.

There has been an increase in customers wanting to know about the ethical and social behavior of the suppliers they use, so keeping up to date on this as someone working in the industry could prove beneficial.

The next episode of Season 5 will be the first episode of Mental Health Awareness Week, in association with the Institute of the Faculty of Actuaries. It will be a series of podcasts complemented by a live webinar, focusing on mental health and its impact on the different stages of the insurance journey.
